A Sept. 17, 2026, feature from the Colorado Arts & Sciences Magazine, published by the University of Colorado Boulder, features research conducted through the UCLA STAND ALACRITY Center, part of the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge.

The article profiles Tamar Kodish, PhD, a former DGC postdoctoral fellow and current assistant professor at University of Colorado Boulder, and a pilot project she led examining how text messaging could help address barriers to engaging with the STAND system of care among community college students.

FOR ALACRITY ONLY: Conducted as part of the Center’s broader research program at East Los Angeles College, STAND at ELAC, Kodish’s project focused on identifying barriers and then co-designing, with ELAC students, targeted messages that reflected students’ needs, preferences and concerns.

The pilot was one of several pilot studies supported through the STAND ALACRITY Center’s broader research program, which aims to improve the effectiveness and implementation of STAND in community college settings.
