Aims

The STAND for Community Colleges Innovation Center builds on the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge's commitment to make new and better treatments available for those who need them, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable communities that are more often underserved by current systems.

The Center is focused on:

  1. Optimizing the effectiveness of the STAND model
  2. Optimizing implementation of STAND
  3. Exploring a sustainable pathway for California to implement STAND in more state community colleges

Structure

The Center carries out its work with the following structure:

Administrative Core

An administrative core, led by Michelle Craske, PhD, and Kate Wolitzky-Taylor, PhD, which oversees the operations of the Center, pilot study program, training of junior investigators, and sustainability planning.

Methods Core

methods core, led by Denise Chavira, PhD, & Robert Gibbons, PhD, which supports the core and pilot research projects, implementation efforts, and innovative and synergistic collaborations that focus on increasing engagement of stakeholders.

Research Projects

A series of research projects that, in conjunction with the administrative and methods cores, seek to fulfill the aims of the Center.

Team

We carry out the STAND aims with a research and support team from UCLA, University of Chicago, RAND, UT Austin, Northwestern, VA, and University of New South Wales. Meet our team.

To ensure that the Center’s operations and approaches are responsive to the needs of community college students, we consult with four primary stakeholders:
